Who we are 

We’re Base Wood Fired Pizza. A totally fresh and contemporary take on pizza. We offer quality, made-to-order, Artizan-style pizzas.


Where we started


Shane Crilly founder of Base Wood Fired Pizza is originally from Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. He studied law in Dublin and went on to train as a Solicitor in London.

Our journey to perfection began when our founder Shane Crilly went to ensure that Base Pizzas met all of the criteria a top quality pizza should consist of; artisanal, fresh, authentic and above all taste delicious. When travelling to the birthplace of pizzas, Naples in Southern Italy Shane forged a partnership with Sergio Giogiudici who ran a local cooperative of Italian producers and farmers.

As a result of this Base can obtain the best Italian ingredients which other Irish competitors do not currently do. He returned to Dublin and set out to improve the standard of pizza in Dublin and to create a pizza that is to inspire healthier choices by offering people real food.

He founded Base in 2008 and opened the first store in Terenure that year and to date has 7 stores across Dublin.

Influenced by traditional Neapolitan cooking methods and inspired by modern flavours we aim to provide our customers with a superior pizza experience. Providing exceptionally tasty food with a freshly made seasonal menu and efficient, professional and hospitable service. 

Created with Integrity is the mantra we have across all aspects of the business. From the beginning we wanted to create a pizza offering within the Irish market that met all of the criteria a top-quality pizza should consist of; artisanal, fresh, authentic and above all taste delicious.

We will continuously endeavour to exceed our customers’ expectations in food and service and be leaders in the home delivery sector in Ireland.



Food to feel good about

Food authenticity is a huge deal with us – where it comes from, how it’s prepared – and of course, how it tastes. From making our dough daily to preparing each pizza topping– we’ve made it a priority to keep our food free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. It’s that simple.

We take pride in only using reputable, recognised and quality suppliers for our raw ingredients, our machinery and the design of our stores.

People first mission

Keeping it real by creating the ultimate Base experience with both our employees and customers. By putting people first, we strive to be a force for positive change in our employee’s lives and the communities they serve. To have a safe and secure workplace where our teams are provided with opportunities to learn and develop their skills and knowledge is important to us. Our ethos is deeply rooted in opportunity and development.  We also strive to exceed our customers’ expectations each time they enter or buy products from Base WFP. We strive to continue to offer excellent pizza quality and a top-quality Base experience.


Throughout the year, Base Wood Fired Pizza have opportunities to give back to the community by participating in fundraisers, sponsoring local events and supporting local clubs in the area. Over the last three years, we have been delighted to participate in Donation Day with ChristmasFM in support of Temple Street Children’s Hospice, LauraLynn and Barretstown and have managed to raise over €3,000 for these charities.
